I've heard you can void the warranty by using other brands but the printer is several years old and not covered by the warranty anyway. Follow Up - it's been some time and I started having a problem with printer after using these cartridges, the first few sheets of print have a "shadow" of the print job on them. It clears after the 2nd or 3rd print but I don't know if I'm saving any money having to print everything 2 or 3 times. Replaced my nearly empty cartridge, printer worked fine again. 2nd cartridge installed gave a warning message "the cartridge is empty". Different, immediate, total failures on each cartridge. Pretty shoddy work. I ordered the New toner cartridges for my Brother 6800 MFC and received a laser toner not the regular toner. When I called Amazon in regards to the change they said it would work the same. Well, it doesn't. I don't do that much printing and it is already out of ink after 2 or 3 weeks. I would not order that again.
